“She’s Autistic” is a book about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in women. Due to most research on autism being conducted on men, and their traits can strongly differ from ASD in women, women are being diagnosed way later in life – or not at all. This project is meant to raise awareness in the form of an informative comic that explores the traits of women with ASD in a playful way. The book is accompanied by an interactive installation that lets the viewer dive into the mind of someone on the spectrum. Bright lights, chaotic sounds and an overall uncomfortable atmosphere are mimicking what the world can look like for them. “She’s autistic” is for everyone – whether they are on the spectrum or not. They might learn about themselves, friends or loved ones through informative visuals and an interactive experience.
