The Passive Image is an attempt at reconciling the artist’s urgency to be critical, the need to pay rent, and the desire to rest. It proposes a solution to creating while unable to move, for an artist who wants to make a living from their art but doesn’t want to actively participate in the art market.
The work merges art and psychology by turning automatic physiological responses into artworks, creating a series of abstract images and sound compositions generated by the data of the artist’s heartbeat.
