HEAD ON refers to the isolated illness experience of the brain running rampant with self-blaming, self-criticising thoughts while having a migraine attack. Simultaneously, HEAD ON signifies the change in attitude I experienced while doing research into internalised stigma and learning about its peculiar and gendered history.
Through reshaping and reimagining daily use objects that make me more comfortable, I hope to bring the audience closer to the inner world of an individual with migraine. During the making, I attach new values to my creative abilities while experiencing a migraine attack. Additionally, I try to visualise how my internalised stigma’s make me feel isolated, faulty and unworthy.
By taking my experience seriously in all its vulnerability, I try to give power to the new experts of migraine: the individuals that have it.
