Halfway West is a first-person 3D narrative driven game that takes place on a mysterious never-ending train in-between life and death.

On your quest to find the missing engine-driver you discover that the passengers are stuck in their own carriages unaware of the fact that they are on a train. Obliviously, they live their life actively ignoring their struggles. By talking with them you are able to help them come to terms with the reason behind their eternal stay on the liminal train. As you progress through the game you learn that you can make a positive difference in their (after)lives by being observant and empathic, which will eventually help them with breaking out of their endless cycle.

This practice project is a collaborative effort between Danny Groot – 3D art and technical development, Zainab Kaddis – animation and character design, and Imogen Tholenaars – visual development.
