OMNITUDE – A short movie that follows a young woman breaking through patterns of societal expected behavior, finding her way toward her own authentic voice. This movie contains movement as visual storytelling.

OMNITUDE stemmed from a desire to dive deeper in a research based project. The start of my research on ‘How can I empower women to embody their authentic self with the art of storytelling through movement and film?’ started with reading ‘Women who run with the wolves’ by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. Estés writes about the ’Wild woman’, the wise and ageless presence in the female psyche that gives women their creativity, energy, and power.

‘A wild woman is one who is in tune with the natural world, someone who is fiercely independent and self-sufficient, yet deeply connected to her community and her own inner voice’

Estés, Women who run with the wolves

The combination of ancient storytelling and the in-depth modern casework from Estés, gave me multiple examples from different cultural points of view how women have a hidden power inside of them, which is clouded by current society. Through analysing myths and their symbolism the book uses stories as a tool to create examples of how women can empower themselves. We all carry stories inside our bodies, either from life experience or passed on wisdom. It could also be the case that we keep unprocessed emotions in our bodies, from trauma, resulting in painful or repetitive stories or beliefs. This can challenge us to connect with our inner voice, preventing us to express our authentic self. Through movement, women liberate themselves from their own encapturing of their trauma’s, which empowers them to take up space.

I realized to be more in connection with my own inner voice, I must be connected with my body and inner world. So then I asked myself the question: How can I feel safe enough to connect, and how could I make other women feel safe enough to connect with their bodies and emotions?

Through my research, I collected tools and got a deeper understanding which helped me to become an embodied creative maker that can translate the hidden wisdom of other women into visuals, accessible to a bigger audience. By sharing personal stories and perspectives, I hope to create a sense of authenticity and relatability, allowing audiences to connect with the themes on a deeper level.

ABOUT

Dauphine gradually evolved into an interdisciplinary artist known for her poetic and vulnerable visual language. VISION

My way of working is mostly on a collaborative basis, it gives me a lot of energy to connect people from my network through a creative process where we can grow and develop new skills together. To me, dance is such a versatile and universal language. Where words sometimes fall short, there is an honest expression of the body that is able to translate feelings into a story that is understandable for everyone.
