Elife

My collection ‘ Elife’ ( pronounced El-ifeh) , named after my grandma, is inspired by knitwear through Turkish generations.

How simple techniques can make a living and a hobby passed down through generations, no matter the surrounding.

I started out making various knitwear samples combining techniques and then calculated the patterns of the garments to be knitted.

Each garment is an exploration of my refined color pallet and search for new innovation within textiles.

I took inspirations from hand embroidery my mother taught me to make Turkish prints and embroidered them on tule for a delicate look.

As well as from ebru painting techniques, and took the inspiration of colors flowing into each other and translated it into psychedelic crochet flowers. on top of a see through top.

From Turkish knitwear to hand work taught from grandma to mom to daughter, this collection is a translation of myself, my Turkish upbringing and knowledge put into textiles made with care and effort.
