Me Geven ‘M Deur (We Pass It Trough)

In ‘Me Geven ‘M Deur’ (we pass it trough) Fleur lets you take a look into her personal life. Her dad, grandpa and uncle are all carpenters, it runs in the family so to say. They have a lot of old knowledge about the craft that they’re practicing and Fleur liked to capture and archive that in a way, also because their craft (woodworking) is slowly changing. This idea in the end became a documentary. In the documentary she takes you on this journey trough the lives of her carpenters, and also comes to and end product herself, based on the knowledge that she receives from her family. The product she is talking about is a door, she chose this object because it’s something that her carpenters would also usually make. The door travels from place to place, in order to show you the different values and qualities of her carpenters.

You must wonder why Fleur chose OSB wood for the final product. Just because there is a lot of aversion to this wood among carpenters, and it’s the most cheap wood you can find on the market, she picked it. It shows Fleur has her own opinion and is not afraid to show this in her works.

Me Geven ‘M Deur is a special, touching movie that brought Fleur and her family closer together.
