IEDER BREIN WERKT ANDERS EN DAT WERKT
In the contemporary context, terms like inclusivity and diversity are often used and linked to outward characteristics or background. However, there is a lack of attention to the term neurodiversity, which implies that every brain thinks, learns, perceives, and interprets differently.
During my research, I made the connection between the large number of open vacancies in the practical sector and the undervaluation of (pre-)vocational education, both societal issues. Therefore, it is crucial that this changes.
With my work, I have approached the term neurodiversity in a visual manner to inspire the viewer and show that every brain/talent is valuable as long as it is placed in the right context.
This has resulted in a photo series of 12 photos taken in various workplaces. The people in the photos each have a different brain as their head. In this way, neurodiversity is visually translated in a strange and exaggerated manner. By using differences in color, shape, and material, it adds a positive layer to the critical subject I aim to highlight.
